Liberia: Over 1000 Government Officials Risk Suspension

MONROVIA: Liberia Anti Corruption Commissioner executive chairperson, Cllr. Alexandra Zoe says out of the total 1,900 employees of the government who were supposed to declare their assets, only 504 did so, while 1396 did not adhere to the law.

The institution has since set July 31, 2024, as a deadline for all government officials appointed by President Joseph Boikai to declare their assets.

The anti-graph establishment further noted that the Failure on the part of government officials to comply with its deadline may result in suspension and the withholding of salaries.

Cllr. Zoe reported that only 26 out of 73 members of the House of Representatives declared their assets, while none of the 56 administrative staff did so, stressing that 12 out of 30 senators declared their assets, with none of the 44 administrative staff members complying with the law and in the Judiciary branch 28 out of 333 employees including judges and administrative staff declared their assets.
