MONROVIA: Senator Prince Johnson has challenged former President George Weah to refrain from labeling the current audit as a witch hunt, asserting that Weah should have conducted a similar audit of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s administration when he assumed office.

Speaking on a local radio station in Monrovia, Johnson emphasized that Weah’s failure to audit the previous administration does not justify dismissing the ongoing investigations into his own former officials.

Johnson stated, “Don’t label the audit as a witch hunt. When Weah took office, he should have audited Ellen’s administration. His failure to do so does not give him the right to undermine the current audit process.”

He also urged Weah to support the investigation and encourage his former officials to cooperate fully. “Instead of criticizing President Boakai’s administration, Weah should be promoting transparency by supporting the audit process. If there are issues, they should be addressed through the proper channels,” Johnson added.

Johnson’s comments come amid ongoing scrutiny of former officials, including former Finance Minister Samuel Tweah, and reflect ongoing debates about the motivations and effectiveness of the current administration’s approach to handling past financial matters.
