MONTSERRADO COUNTY: As part of efforts aimed at delivering accurate and balanced information from every part of District 17, Montserrado County to constituents and residents of the District and the general Liberian population, a Newspaper was launched today in several parts of the District.
Referred to as “District 17 Post”, the paper will be published every two months with plans to be on the news stance twofold every month if needed funds are available.
Performing as chief launcher for the newspaper, the district lawmaker Rep. Bernard Blue Benson encouraged residents of the district to take ownership of the paper.
Representative Benson furthermore told the gathering that the purpose for the publication of the newspaper is to spread information throughout the the District.
Deterring would-be misconceptions from his critics, Representative Benson quickly clarified that the establishment of the “District 17 Post” was not to promote his work as a legislator, but rather, to keep the public informed about unfoldings within District 17.
Making remarks during the launch, inhabitants from every quarter of the District attending the ceremony expressed their excitement describing the establishment of the District Newspaper as a great initiative and first of its kind in Liberia.
