CAPITOL HILL, MONROVIA: Representative Prince K. Koinah, Bong County Electoral District #1 representation at the House of Representatives, 55th National Legislature today presided as the Chairperson of a subcommittee for the ongoing Draft 2025 National Budget hearing at the Capitol.
The Bong Lawmaker who is the Co-chair of the House’s Committee on Public Accounts and Expenditure, chaired the Expenditure Hearing session of the Draft FY 2025 National Budget with the Civil Service Agency and Ministry of Health appearing.
The hearing with the Civil Service Agency (CSA), was led by its Director-General Josiah Joekai.
During the hearing, the CSA defended its budget and provided considerable updates on the status of civil servants across the country.
Director-General Joekai underlined several ongoing reforms in the areas of Social Benefits, Consultancy, and capacity Building aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness within the Agency.
The hearing was co-chaired by Lofa County District #2 Representative, Julie Fartomah Weah, with other committee members Representatives Gizzie Kollince, Augustine Chiewolo, Nathaniel Baywah, Mustapha Waritty Margibi County District 2 Representative Ivar K. Jones.
From all indications, the Bong County District One Lawmaker leadership in these hearings underscores his efforts in making sure District #1, Bong County, and Liberia develop and progress through improved budgetary allotment.
For their part, Dr. Louise M. Kpoto, Minister of Health, and Madam Martha Morris, Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Health, made a persuasive case before the committee moments ago.
Dr. Kpoto and her team stressed the critical need to prioritize budgetary increments for C.B. Dunbar and other maternal hospitals across the country.
Their goal is to immensely reduce maternal mortality rates in Liberia, which remain a critical concern.
Additionally, they stressed the importance of regularizing the supply of essential drugs at health facilities ensuring a consistent and reliable supply of medications is vital for maintaining the health and well-being of the population.
These hearings are the first sets chaired by the newly appointed PAC Co-chair Representative Prince K. Koinah which provided a platform for open dialogue and scrutiny, ensuring that the budget allocations are aligned with the needs and priorities of the Liberian people.
