MONROVIA: Embattled House Speaker Cllr. Jonathan Fonati Koffa this morning held a meeting with President Joseph Nyemah Boakai at the President’s rehab dwelling.
According to sources, the discussion was centered on the ongoing in-house fight at the House of Representatives.
ERA NEWS gathered that the meeting, initiated at the invitation of Boakai, also had the Director of the Executive Protection Service Sam Gaye in attendance.
During the discussions, Boakai expressed his concern over the uneasy developments at the Capitol.
While he stopped short of directly advising Embattled Speaker Koffa to resign as pointed out by our source, President Boakai urged him to work collaboratively with his colleagues in the interest of peace and stability.
EPS Director Sam Gaye also appealed to Speaker Koffa, encouraging him to step back from the contentious situation. However, Embattled Speaker Koffa stood firm, insisting he would not resign.
During the meeting, Embattled Speaker Koffa underscored that he cannot step down and that his colleagues must abide by the Supreme Court’s mandate. He also expressed his readiness to face any consequences, stating that the authorities could withdraw his security details if they wished, but he remained resolute in his stance.
