MONROVIA: With just nine (9) months in office, several citizens have welcomed the resignation of some government officials, as they called for a full investigation.
Of recent some government officials resigned from their posts including the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Minister Amin Modad, the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency officer in charge Christopher Peters, and Liberia’s permanent representative to the United Nations Madam Sarah Safyn Fyneah.
It is also gathered that Madam Fyneah was recalled by the President, before tendering her resignation, after the Country has launched its bid for the non – permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council.
Though some resigned for personal reasons, while other back off due to alleged corrupt act especially following public outcry.
Speaking in a one on one conversation with citizens over the weekend, they expressed their excitement over the resignation of former Minister of Commerce and Industry Amin Modad.
However, Milton Gibson a motorcyclist expressed his disappointment in the Boakia-Kung nine months leadership, as he believed the resignation of government officials is not a good image.
Milton noted that it is very early to see officials of government resigning from their positions with more developments need to be done.
Still with the report, Alphonso Burter a taxi driver has backed the resignation of government officials, as he believed it was in the interest of the state especially saving the government image, at the same time pointing out the challenges the Country is face with, highlighting the bad road conditions, poor electricity, and among others.
He wants government focus on developing the Country, especially modernizing different sectors of life.
For her part, a business woman Cecelia Thomas maintained that resignation of Minister Modad has regenerate a major boost and a new journey to the business community.
She said, the Liberia businesses were run by foreigners and alliance, noting that President Boakia should a permanent Liberian to the ministry.
Meanwhile, the Liberia businesswoman has expressed her frustration over the many travels President Boakai continues to take without showing benefits, as she believes taxpayers’ money has been wastefully spent by the Liberian leader.
