Liberia: “I will propose that there should be Capital Punishment in our Country for those that will import drugs” – Rep. Prince A. Toles

CAPITOL HILL, MONROVIA: The fight against Illicit Drugs remains a major challenge for the government of Liberia and its citizens.

However, in reaction to the rampant increase of dangerous substances and the continuous danger it poses to the youth of the country, Montserrado County District 8 Representative, Prince Toles is calling for Capital Punishment for would-be drug traffickers.

Representative Toles putting forth information

The lawmaker made the call while providing information when members of the session were discussing the report into the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency Saga that is currently before the President’s desk for action during the ninth extraordinary day sitting of the House of Representatives.

He also emphasized the severity of the drug problem in Liberia and believes that tougher measures are necessary to combat it effectively.

Rep. To Les argued that despite budgetary allotments to the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA), the situation will not improve unless stricter penalties are imposed on drug traffickers.

To truly address the drug crisis in Liberia, we need to send a strong message to would-be traffickers that their actions will not be tolerated. No amount of funding or resources for the LDEA will make a difference unless we implement harsher punishments for those who are involved in the illegal drug trade.”
