Liberia: Speaker Koffa Calls for Honesty and Integrity in Awarding Degrees at Tertiary Level

CAPITOL HILL, MONROVIA: The Speaker of the House of Representatives Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa has called on educators in Liberia to be honest and sincere when awarding degrees to students at the tertiary level.

According to the Press and Public Affairs Office of the House, Cllr Koffa made the call while Speaking at the launch of the Joint National Education Stakeholders Retreat in Ganta, Nimba County.

The National Education Stakeholders Retreat brings together key players from various sectors, including educators, policymakers, and administrators, to deliberate on strategies for improving the quality and standards of education in Liberia.

The Lawmaker emphasized the need for pragmatic steps to transform the education sector.

He urged administrators to ensure that students graduating from universities and colleges are well-prepared and competent.

Addressing the stakeholders, the lawmaker highlighted the proliferation of new educational institutions across the country and questioned whether Liberia has adequately assessed the capabilities of its graduates compared to their counterparts in another region.

He stressed the importance of maintaining high standards and quality in education to ensure the nation’s graduates are competitive on a regional and global scale.

The Speaker praised the Joint Legislative Education Committee for organizing the National Education Stakeholders Retreat, which he believes will play a crucial role in addressing the challenges facing the sector.

He expressed optimism that the retreat would lead to meaningful discussions and reforms to strengthen the education system in Liberia.
