MONROVIA: An employee of the West African Examination Council identified as Augustine S. Saysay was arrested and brought before the Monrovia city court for allegedly conspiring with three others to collect the sum of some One Hundred and Twenty thousand Liberian Dollars (DS121,000.00) from the school administrationon in Tappita Nimba county.
According to a writ issued by the Monrovia City court stipendiary Magistrate Ben Barco, defendant Augustine S. Saysay, Amos Howah, Hamid Alhanssan Bangurs, and Lewis A. A. Lecco, to be identified from the City of Monrovia leaked the 12th grader’s mathematics exam to schools in the area.
The defendants where arrested and reminded at the Monrovia Central prison for days ,but where later release on bill after filing the request criminal appearance bond.
Our judicial correspondent said defendant Saysay and his co-conspirators were charged with the crimes aiding Consumption of Crime
Misapplication of Entrusted Property
Theft of Property and Criminal Conspiracy.
” You are hereby commanded to Arrest the living bodies of Augustine S. Saysay, Amos Bowah, Hamid Alhanssan Bangura and Lewis A. A. Leeco DEFENDANT/S to be identified, and forthwith bring them before the Monrovia city Court, Temple of Justice Building, Montserrado County to answer to the Property, Theft of Property and Criminal Conspiracy CHARGE OF Aiding Consummation of Crime, Misapplication of Entrusted Council based upon the oath and complaint of the Republic of Liberia by & thru West African Examination PLAINTIFF in which it is substantially alleged as follows to wit:
IN VIOLATION OF SECTION 12.5, 15.56, 15.51, 10.4 OF THE NEW PENAL LAW OF LIBERIA.” the writ said.
WAEC-Liberia in their complaints on oath says that during the month of June 2024, defendant Augustine S. Saysay being within the employed of (WAEC), was entrusted with two (2) packages of ten of the Mathematics examination scheduled to be administered on the 30th of May 2024, in Tappita Nimba County, Upon receiving information that the examination was rescheduled.
Defendant Augustine S. Saysay criminally Conspired with the Co-defendant and received from them the just amounts of LDS70,000.00., LDS39,000.00, and LDS10,250.00 amounting to a total of
LDS121,000.00 for the release of the examination.
Meanwhile, WAEC-Liberia has described the alleged act of the defendants as being: Criminal, illegal, and unconstitutional.
