LIBERIA: New School Building Constructed for Students in Barriken Town

MARYLAND: Over one hundred fifty students and thirteen teachers in Barriken Town, Maryland County are expected to move into a newly constructed school building next academy year. The building was constructed by an international Nonprofit Organization, ADDRA with fundings from the World Bank.

The newly constructed building by donors have brought smiles on the faces of inhibants, particularly it’s the first of its kind in the region.

The building contains three Class rooms, a library and three offices.

Speaking to newsmen, the principal for Barriken High School, Mathew W. Kribo Sr., Commended the World Bank and ADDRA for gesture.

He noted that, the modern High School will bring relief to residents and help school going kids focus on their studies.

For decades, we only have Elementary and Junior High level in our town. And that which makes our students to migrate to nearby places for further Education after completing the school. The school project started during the regime of Liberia former president GeorgeM. Weah and was completed in President Boikai administration.” he further indicated

Also, the township Commissioner for Barriken, Mr. Dossen lauded the Liberia government and pathners for the initiative. 

Dossen added that, the building will make Students to inhance a standard learning productive and at the same time boost the educational landscape in the country.

As students prepared to began using the building next school year, the Commissioner however call on the Liberian government through its international partners to assist the school with furnitures in order to stabilize the sitting capacity of students.

The new high school building has no chairs neither desks for students to start with next academy. There is a need that the government act quickly to avoid poor learning in the coming days.” Dossen concluded.
